Easter Swap

As you may remember, I swapped with a lovely Australian Lady, Jessie at Indie Bunny for my Vintage Easter Swap hosted by Lissy Lou

What with the wedding I went to and my son's 25th birthday I've not had time to show the lovely things Jessie sent me, but at last I can rectify that!

A pretty hat & scarf and cosy slippers (which have barely left my feet since I got them!)
Pincushions and a needle-case, very useful as my pin cushion was old and tatty, so these are now in use
If you look closely you can see the needle-case has little pockets inside - how cool is that?
A pair of darling handmade needle felted little bears... I just adore them
So my two beloved knitted mice, finally after almost half a century, have their own teddy bears
Aren't I the lucky one? I do enjoy swapping :)

I have some more swaps coming up... Moonstruck Creations and @Home's Jubilee Swap with Peonies & Pennies , Laalaa's God Save the Queen Swap with My Red Wellies and last but definitely not least... Beki's Free for All swap with Booty-Full Things. So I'll be busy for a while!

Titfer Tat

My first foray in to the lush world of fascinators quickly went as a present to a bride

For the wedding I thought I'd make a fascinator for my best friend as she was giving said bride away

Her dress had been a bargain on one of our shopping trips and was in beautiful autumnal colours so I made a fascinator to coordinate

We all had a super day; the weather was perfect, the location fabulous, the company great fun and the bride and groom were married in style and with love from us all

This weekend my bestest friend and I went to the wedding of our friend who had the hen do last month where we wore masquerade masks

My friend loves owls so while I was making a fascinator for her to wear to the wedding, I thought I'd make her a sunglasses case with an appliquéd owl on it, a bit like my pansy one that I made whilst packing for the hen do... I do seem to like this 11th hour-ness in my crafting

I made the owl by adapting an owl ornament pattern from Juicy Bits

I'd probably best stop with the owls soon or she'll be inundated!
The button eyes and some of the felt came from the wonderful give-away I won last year from Sew Sweet... that stash is lasting really quite well, although I might need to stock up on the small felt squares in a while, the buttons last longer as mainly I just play with them as it's hard to part with them by using them!

Do pop across to Sew Sweet and say hi from me... can you believe that pretty blog is only a year old?

Vintage Easter Swap

A while ago I signed up for the Vintage Easter Swap hosted by Lissy Lou and was partnered with Jessie at Indie Bunny

I had great fun getting things together for Jessie and I am pleased to say she has received them and already eaten (and shared) the choccy... a girl after my own heart!

Jessie is a fellow needle felter so I put a little box of assorted wool-tops taken from my stash, I'm sure they'll get used, do pop over to Jessie's blog and see the amazing creatures she makes; they have such a lot of character

I also included a tiny notebook with a black cat as she has a black cat; a packet of Fox's biccies and a fox ring as she has a bit of a thing for foxes!

Assorted sweeties and goodies completed the haul and I packed it all in a box with teal and orange tissue paper, her favourite colour combination

My parcel is on its way to me, so my Easter gets to last longer than most people's :). I hope you're all better soon Jessie

Cross-dressing Meerkat

It's a long story, but somehow I found myself agreeing to dress the work meerkat in a variety of clothes...

...a tutu, a t-shirt and pair of y-fronts, oh and the cherry on the cake, someone also wanted a halo

Never one to disappoint my audience, I spent today with my sewing machine and managed to rustle it all up

So without further ado... ta-dah.. one cross-dressing meerkat

Making y-fronts for a meerkat is a fiddly job

So, what have you been up to this weekend? Has anyone else been making odd costumes for small furry creatures? Thought so, that'll just be me then

May I put this outfit down for my first monthly make for April please?
